The keyboard is a great piece of kit and gives a lot of versatility. It has a great range of sounds and is easy to use. It has a brilliant start up mode that is automatic by pressing the start button and then hold the button down. I found the sounds of the synth perfect for creating atmosphere and when used in the right way and prepared properly it works very well. There is a program called Drums 2 which has drum loops and basses etc all ready to use. I don't think the do need to buy the bundle pack to get the Synthmaster but if you are a keen synth player you might want to. They also have a program called Easel Pops where you can create your own custom synth sounds.
I bought the two packs and the synthmaster in one order. The order was confirmed by way of email and also by phone. Each synth was shipped as 2 pieces, one a complete unit and the other with a usb cable.
I brought the mackie into the house, plugged in the synthmaster and attached the cable and voila, instant synth, all the sounds and playing the album with no messing about. The synthmaster controls the synth and when I press a key the synth plays back that note. It is a control synth. I tested it by playing a few bars of bach and then showed it to someone who was never familiar with a keyboard to see the control panel. The way it is set up you can play the synth as if you were playing the piano. It is standard MIDI keyboard so if you don't have a MIDI keyboard you can use the buttons on the synthmaster and it should work. I am not an expert on this, just read lots on the internet and this is the way I understand. The only problem I found was that the synthmaster which is a solid metal and hard to turn could be turned a little too easily in one direction, ie. if you are playing a piano and turn it to the right the synth will start playing back the notes of the piano. If you turn it to the left the synth will stop.
